Long term interventions
These are the more traditional ABA programmes that enable a child to learn 6-10 skills at one time. The two types of therapy are:
Full time therapy
30 hours per week, typically divided into 10 sessions, each lasting 3 hours.
Requires 3-5 tutors trained in delivering behaviour analytic interventions to work directly with the child.
On average, the Consultant visits once every 4 weeks, to monitor progress, provide on-going training to tutors and parents, and set new targets.
It can take place entirely at the child's home, across home and school, or entirely at school.
Suitable for children who is not yet in nursery or school placement, or in a placement where the nursery or school is open to tutors working there with the child.
Part time therapy
15 hours per week, typically divided into 5 sessions, each lasting 3 hours.
Requires 2-3 tutors trained in delivering behaviour analytic interventions to work directly with the child.
On average, the Consultant visits once every 6 weeks to monitor progress, provide on-going training to tutors and parents, and set new targets.
