Toilet Training
Have you tried to toilet train your child, but it was unsuccessful? is Your child only partially toilet trained? Is your child older than 3 years old and does not communicate their needs for the toilet/ nappy change?
Our team specialises in toileting children with speech delays and/ or social communication difficulties/ Autism. We can offer a week of intensive toilet training programme to equip parents and carers to toilet train their child.
What can you expect?
We will first ask for some information about your child's skills, to see if they are ready for toilet training. Don't worry if they are not. The intensive programme can still help with working on the key skills your child needs to get them ready for toilet training.
An assessment will be done to obtain information required for a tailor made strategy for your child. The assessment has two parts-
An Online parent interview (2 hours, the child is not required to be present)
A Face to face assessment at the family home (1 hour)
A strategy meeting (1 hour) will take place one week after the assessment is conducted, to share the results with the parents and discuss the strategy we propose, and materials needed for the programme.
The first session will be a workshop, where a consultant and the therapist(s) will attend to set up the strategies. After that, the therapist will carry out the work on a 1:1 basis. A parent or carer is required to be present in all sessions, so they can observe how the toilet training is done and carry it on once the therapist leaves.
We use positive reinforcement in our toilet training programme, where children receive praise and preferred items/ activities after a successful toilet trip. Please note, we do not use punishment in our approach.
When will the programme take place?
The programme will take place during this Summer Holiday (either five mornings or five afternoons a week) . Morning sessions are typically 9am-12pm, afternoon sessions are typically 1pm-4pm, or 2pm-5pm, depending on where the therapist travels from. Please note that limited places are available and you will need to fill out the form below in order to book a slot for your child.

How much will the Toilet training programme cost?
The programme is £1270. This includes the assessment and 15 hours therapy.
